This weekend, discover the best world music, art and dance at WOMADelaide or head to Tumby Bay for the 2025 Colour Tumby Festival.

Music of the world

For more than 30 years, WOMADelaide has brought the best of world music, art and dance to the heart of the city and from March 7 to 10, the much-loved event returns to Botanic Park/Tainmuntilla. More than 700 artists from 35 countries will take to eight stages across the weekend, including alternative rock icon PJ Harvey, who headlines the festival. Other performers include Portuguese fado singer Mariza, Brooklyn-based hip hop trio Digable Planets, American funk trio Khruangbin, Irish electropop singer Roisin Murphy and American Afrofuturist jazz group The Sun Ra Arkestra. There will also be physical theatre, as well as multicultural cuisines, and various arts, crafts and clothing stalls.

An evening with Nancy

Join award-winning Indigenous singer-songwriter Nancy Bates as she launches her latest album, Share Your Love, at the Adelaide Fringe in Nancy Bates & Friends. The 2025 Fringe Ambassador will bring her country twang and impactful lyrics to audiences with songs such as Blood Red Moon, which will be performed alongside her all-star band. Nancy is a Barkindji songwoman originating from Far Western NSW, who established her career as a backing vocalist and rhythm guitarist for the late Archie Roach and has since dedicated herself to human rights advocacy, spearheading rehabilitation programs for women prisoners. This performance is on at The Arts Theatre on March 6 and 7.

It Is I, Seagull at Holden Street Theatres

Head to Holden Street Theatres this weekend for the Australian premiere of It Is I, Seagull. Coming from the United Kingdom, this physical theatre show follows comedy writer and opera singer Lucy Mellors, who “has had enough”. The play intertwines Lucy’s experience as an award-winning opera singer with the stories of Valentina Tereshkova, who was the first the first woman in space, and Valentina Ponomaryova, who was almost the first woman in space. Lucy says the piece exposes current and historic sexism “to explore what it takes to achieve something extraordinary, and… is it worth it?”. It Is I, Seagull will be shown in The Studio at Holden Street Theatres until March 23.

End Game at Fool’s Paradise

Multi award-winning writer and performer Katie Reddin-Clancy presents the world premiere of End Game; a genre-bending dramedy exploring a cabaret performer’s soul review from the afterlife. The solo show ponders questions like, ‘Why are we here?’ and ‘What are we supposed to do with our time on earth?’. Katie says the solo show is also about purpose, love and spirituality. Coming direct from the United Kingdom, End Game will be showing at Fool’s Paradise in Victoria Square/Tarntanyangga until March 23.

Hold your horses

Don your finest and enjoy a day at the track for the 2025 Adelaide Cup at Morphettville Racecourse on Monday, March 10. The Adelaide Cup culminates with the much-anticipated cup race, with thoroughbreds traversing 3200 metres to take home the six-figure cash prize. Enjoy a post-race concert headlined by Sneaky Sound System, while there are plenty of prizes to be won in the Croser Fashions on the Field competition. there are also luxury hospitality packages available for those seeking a more exclusive experience, including the Champions Balcony, First Class Champagne Lounge, Winning Post Restaurants, Private Suites and Trackside Picnic Sites.

Revving engines

As the expression goes, they just don’t make ’em like they used to. Experience the timeless beauty of classic vehicles at the Adelaide Motorsport Festival, at Victoria Park/Pakapakanthi on March 8 and 9. This festival includes displays of vintage and rare vehicles as well as on-track races with historic Formula 1 cars, Time Attack weapons, open wheelers, sportscars and motorbikes. In between the fast-paced action, enjoy local food and beverage options or check out the trade stalls, the Grand Marquee, premium villas and more. This festival also looks to the future, with displays of the latest motorsport technology. A highlight will be the Gouger Street Party on Friday, March 7 at 6pm, as 40 exotic and rare vehicles cruise down the boulevard set to the soundtrack of DJs and accompanied by driver appearances.

With flying colours

Expect street art, creative workshops, pop-up markets and live entertainment at the 2025 Colour Tumby Festival. take an informative tour of Tumby Bay’s famous street art – including its unique silo murals – or watch one of the exciting Fringe performances over the March long weekend. There’ll also be an interactive kid’s zone, while historic cars will be on display at the Cruzee Car Show. Or why not browse the artisan crafts at the Colour Tumby Markets and have a go sailing on the beautiful coast, with its abundant fishing waters? Plan a road trip for this colourful festival, which takes over the historic Eyre Peninsula town of Tumby Bay on March 8 and 9.

Garden Sessions

With Mad March upon us, why not take advantage of a free performance at the Garden of Unearthly Delight’s Garden Sessions. Occurring at 2.30pm every Friday throughout the Fringe, Garden Sessions showcases the talent of emerging First Nations musicians. This weekend, enjoy a heartfelt performance by Sonia Smith, a proud Kokatha signer songwriter, who “with her powerful voice, music and lyrics…shares the story of her life, from rock bottom times to the warrior woman she is today”. This will be followed with performances by Wirrangu Kokatha man Kenneth Wilson on March 15 and Ngarrindjeri/Wiradjuri woman CeeCee on March 22.

Twilight Food Affair at Tatachilla Lutheran College

The family-friendly Twilight Food Affair returns to Tatachilla Lutheran College on Friday, March 21, with everything from chorizo paella to freshly-baked stroopwafels. The event is open to all members of the community and is the college’s biggest annual celebration. Families will be treated to delicious international street food and a range of wines and beers produced by some of McLaren Vale’s best cellar doors and breweries. The Twilight Food Affair also includes a range of carnival rides and sideshow entertainment for the kids. Twilight-goers can also expect live music, as well as fireworks at 9.00pm. This year the college celebrates its 30th year and is preparing for its biggest Twilight Food Affair yet. Parking on site is by gold coin donation and entry to the event is free.

Renmark Croquet Club

Make your way to 23rd Street Distillery this Friday for a mix of classic games, cocktails, live music at Renmark Croquet Club. Croquet will take centre stage, giving both seasoned players and first-timers the chance to test their skills. Between rounds, sip on a G&T, a cocktail, or one of 23rd Street Distillery’s spirits while enjoying a woodfired pizza. This event is hosted by 23rd Street Distillery and takes place every Friday throughout the 2025 Adelaide Fringe.
