Holden on to the memoriesWhen the Holden Elizabeth plant closed on October 20, 2017, it was the end of an era for Australian-made cars. From 1963 until just recently, some of the country’s most iconic cars were made within the walls of this factory, including the Holden Monaro and the Holden Ute. This golden age of car manufacturing will be on full display this month as Rear Vision: The Holden Collection opens at the State Library Gallery from February 28 until June 22. This exhibition will feature everything from a bronze lion statue from the Elizabeth plant, archival images, a 1950s FJ Ute and a full-scale replica of the Holden Commodore. |
