This week’s Poet’s Corner contributions about love and adversity are from Rory Harris.
These dog days
hang in curtainless
hospital white
an absence of flowers
as you raise yourself
to a million dollar view
the breeze beating
cat paw soft against routine
a slow drip of chemotherapy
Your blood cells
are at war with themselves
confusing the order of living
how in the not so long ago
daughters clung to your limbs
& you wrapped them
a tendril of arms
heart against beating heart
healing and inhaling
their downy heads
