Stormy Adelaide beach weather is the subject of this week’s Poet’s Corner contributions from Rory Harris.
the dark
coat winter
one sleeve
full of stars
the other
thrown over
a shoulder
like a glance
as the wind
blows diamonds
on this stretch of winter beach
a grey sky drawn to a grey sea
against a grey horizon
a man & a five year old
hands grasped against the wind
swing against the wind
& there just before
the breaking of the rain
a rainbow & then another
& another
& he throws the child
into his chest & carries her
their backs against the storm
her first rainbow & there were three
