Reality is the theme of both this week’s Poet’s Corner contributions from Marilyn Linn.
Reality
mist rises then is gone
clouds gather and move on
a baby is born
an old man dies
the wheel turns
such is life
reality.
The Garage and Estate Sale
is today.
Everything must go
the trappings of a home
all the knick-knacks
and treasures from years of travelling.
Missus has died.
Mister is going into a Home.
He is frail.
Out goes Royal Albert dinner set
Le Creuset saucepans
tables and chairs and books
orchids and maiden hair ferns
even curtains.
By end of the day
almost everything has gone,
except the big old green leather chair.
Mister sits there,
weeping.
