FEATURE LISTING: Resort-style North Adelaide mansion hits the market

Current owners Mr and Mrs Wang, who own businesses in China, moved into 155 Barnard Street, North Adelaide halfway through 2022.

Speaking on behalf of the couple, whose English is limited, close friend Mei said they were first attracted to the home’s classic frontage and modern amenities.

“It’s a wide frontage. It’s Georgian style with plenty of car parks – there are three of them – and the entrance hall is like a big statement,” says Mei.

“The Georgian style is a statement already and it’s just stunning. The back also leads you directly to the kitchen, family room – it’s just massive and it has all the features.”

This includes a “beautiful fireplace” and a kitchen that has been featured in an advertisement for Jag Kitchens.

Built in 2014 by Medallion Homes, the villa also has 10 Italian chandeliers, subzero fridges worth $100,000 and sweeping ceilings.

“It’s a beautiful place for partying and for lifestyle,” says Mei.

The property’s floorplan includes four bedrooms, three bathrooms and garage space for up to three cars.

Stepping off the porch into the grand entrance hall, you will find a sitting room to the left and a home theatre to the right.

Walking through the hallway to the open-plan dining and living area, you will pass the study and the powder room.

Outdoors is the heated swimming pool with an aluminium cover, a vast tennis court and an undercover, outdoor kitchen.

“They converted the outdoor alfresco area into an outdoor kitchen with gas cooking and a big benchtop,” says Mei.

Making your way upstairs via the lift or staircase, you will find the dwelling’s four bedrooms, including the master suite with its spacious walk-in wardrobe and ensuite, Mei’s favourite part of the house.

“Upstairs, the master bedroom has this huge walk-in wardrobe with two sides. There is an island in the middle where you can put your watches and jewellery and they’re all magnetically lockable – I was really impressed,” says Mei.

“They have underground heating for all the upstairs bathrooms … it’s beautiful in winter.”

Mei says Mr and Mrs Wang enjoy the location, which allows them to take regular strolls in North Adelaide.

“They love walking around the golf course. They walk around and go to North Terrace with all the quality homes along the way – they love that walk there.”

But after two years of calling North Adelaide home, Mr and Mrs Wang plan to move closer to friends in Glenelg, where they hope to retire.

“I think the reason they moved to the because of the views,” says Mei.

The sale of 155 Barnard Street, North Adelaide is being handled by Sally Cameron from Toop + Toop.
