Check out the Tour Down Under ‘Fringe’

Jan 16, 2025, updated Jan 17, 2025

David Rossi collates the top events you’ll find on the fringe of the 2025 Santos Tour Down Under that’s set to hit the streets this Friday.

The 2025 Santos Tour Down Under starts tomorrow and outside the sponsored events and races there’s so much more to do.

For eight years, avid cyclist David Rossi has compiled a huge roster of events run by brands and other groups outside of the official schedule – including rides, events and pop-up shops – onto one website.

“A big part of the TDU is riding the roads of Adelaide and getting up close with the latest cycling technology and fashion,” Rossi said.

“These shops, rides, and events come together a bit like a TDU Fringe Festival”.

Rossi has selected the top five events that both the avid cyclist and casual spectator will enjoy.

The MAAP and Specialized pop-up

Rossi said Chateau Apollo and Roxie’s are the best places to be all tour, with daily drinks by Bridge Road Brewers. A highlight is the Zwift Party at 6pm on Tuesday 21, “with all the energy of bike racing brought indoors”. See the full schedule

Bike Society

Red Bull – BORA – hansgrohe fans will be treated to a team signing at 11am on Monday 20. The popular Nero Show podcast also rides into Bike Society at 4:30pm on Wednesday 22 with prizes and a live Q&A. Find out more.

Curve at Whippets Workshop

Adventurous riders can trial Curve demo bikes on Sunday 19, Tuesday 21, and Thursday 23. Who can say no to a bonus pizza night on Thursday to discuss all things bikes? See what’s on at Curve.

Pedla pop-up

The elite women’s team Meridian Blue Cycling will visit Pedla for their team launch at 5pm on Wednesday 22. Celebrate even earlier by riding with the team at 7am that morning!

Rapha pop-up

In addition to daily rides and evening events, Rossi said their traditional Willunga pilgrimage on Saturday 25 January “takes the queen stage to the next level”.

Win a year’s worth of wine

While not on the ‘fringe’ since Seppeltsfield is a “Major Partner” of the TDU, CityMag would be remiss if it didn’t tell readers they could win a shit load of wine simply by registering here or looking for the Seppeltsfield car at the races.

One lucky winner will receive a mixed dozen of Seppeltsfield award-winning wines – including whites, rose, reds and fortified – delivered to your door, every single month for a year.
