The Star: Kitchen and Bar are putting on a five-course dinner for New Years Eve in Adelaide’s festival plaza, followed by DJs and dancing ‘til late. A drinks package from Bird In Hand is included to toast the new year, and the venue is a prime vantage point for Elder Park’s fireworks show.

The West End bar is putting on an ode to Broadway’s former nightclub Studio 54 this New Years Eve, with DJs spinning disco and house and classic cocktails on deck.
There’ll be pizzas and snacks on the menu ‘til 10pm and plenty of champagne flowing to ring in the new year. The dress code is ‘dazzle’, so if you’ve got something hanging in your wardrobe that’s “too much” put it on because Bank Street is going big.
It’s not ticketed, but they do recommend booking a booth package if you’ve got a bigger group. Free entry from 6pm ‘til 9pm with $20 on the door after that. Find out more via Instagram.

The revamped Semaphore kiosk that opened just in time for summer is throwing a New Year’s Party suitable for all ages, as is Shelly’s ethos.
When CityMag spoke to owner James Sacca in October he told us the essence of Shelly’s is a place he “would come to 10 years ago when I didn’t have kids and can come to today now that I do have kids”.
The esplanade spot is front row viewing for the Semaphore Foreshore fireworks display, and will have a DJ, drinks and of course their beachside bites.
Join the Shelly’s crew to ring in the new year from 4pm, with tickets available via Moshtix.
There’s plenty of room to party at the Scenic, with the beer garden below and a very green view from the balcony. This picture: Claudia Dichiera/CityMag
Solomon Street hotspot Sunny’s Pizza is teaming up with the Scenic Hotel for a New Years Pizza Party on December 30 and 31 with live DJs, wood fired pizza and frozen margaritas.
The Scenic’s serene view from Norton Summit Road overlooking the city is a chill option for New Year’s Eve in Adelaide, ready to ring in the new year with a Margherita pizza and frozen marg in hand.
The event is family-friendly and dog-friendly. They recommend you RSVP for free to secure your spot via Humanitix.
If you ask CityMag, the secret to a good New Year’s Eve is a big backyard, plenty of booze, and good music. All of this and more at Swapmeet’s party.
For just $30 you can attend the “house show/party/event of the year”, featuring some of Adelaide’s best bands at a secret location.
CityMag is not afraid to admit that Swapmeet is one of our favourite local bands at the moment, and they’re hosting the New Year bash alongside a stacked lineup including Perfect 50, The Genevieves, Jackulson, War Room, The Munch, Twine and more.
