This weekend, head to The Drive for the Adelaide International, or step back in time for 100 years of radio in South Australia.

Tennis, anyone?

Have an ace of a day at the Adelaide International before it wraps up this Saturday. More than 140 tennis players have taken part in this year’s tournament, with Adelaide local Thanasi Kokkinakis competing alongside Barbora Krejcikova from the Czech Republic and Jessica Pegula, Tommy Paul and Sebastian Korda from the United States. Following the outcome of Friday’s semi-final, the two best male and two best female players will compete in the Saturday final to take home the coveted trophy and prize money. There are still plenty of seats available, from as little as $39 to more exclusive experiences.

Step back in time

Tune in to the fascinating history of radios in South Australia at 100 Radios for 100 Years: Celebrating a Century of Broadcast, Sound, Creative and Our Voices. This exhibition marks 100 years since the state’s first commercial radio broadcast took place at 5CL station on November 20, 1924. There’ll be an array of installations from the golden age of radio, including a display of vintage radio advertisements and promotions for radio shows, historical photographs and vintage portable radios. This event is on at the City Library until January 24.

Head to the Barossa Valley’s Peter Lehmann Wines this Friday for an unbeatable day of music, gourmet food and wine at A Day on the Green. Australian blues rock legends The Teskey Brothers will bring their soulful melodies to the vineyard alongside US indie rockers Band of Horses, American folk and roots singer-songwriter Sierra Ferrell, Irish popstar CMAT and Melbourne duo Charlie Needs Braces.

Run the Loop

Entries may be closed for the Run the Loop chip-timed race at the University of Adelaide, but spectators can still cheer from the sideline as competitors run around the iconic Uni Loop. The event includes races for runners of all abilities, including the seeded races, where entrants compete against 10 other runners of a similar ability. A highlight will be the elite races, when professional athletes and Olympians compete to be crowned Uni Loop Champion and for their share of a $2200 prize pool.
