The diverse cultures of Asia will be on full display this month as OzAsia returns with a program of music, comedy, cuisine and visual arts. Whether you’re a fan of Japanese anime, a devotee of K-Pop or enjoy Bollywood dancing, this festival will have something for you. This year’s OzAsia will feature more than 300 local, national and international artists showcasing the very best of Asian and Asian Australian art and culture. Highlights of the festival include A Passage to Bollywood – a dance, music and theatre performance at Dunstan Playhouse – the Lucky Dumpling Market at Elder Park and the free Moon Lantern Trail at Pinky Flat. OzAsia runs from October 24 to November 10.
The Fleurieu Folk Festival returns for a three-day celebration of traditional music. Now in its 18th year, the festival showcases local, interstate and international musicians playing styles ranging from contemporary folk to acoustic, Celtic, blues, Americana, roots, bluegrass and more. The Fleurieu Folk Festival also includes workshops, dance, musical theatre, poetry and spoken word performances and children’s entertainment, as well as local food, wine and market stalls. This award-winning festival takes place in Willunga from October 25 to 27.
Golf balls will be soaring as the Webex Players Series makes its way to the Willunga Golf Course from October 24 to 27. This tournament, hosted by former Test cricketer Greg Blewett, will see men and women compete together for the same coveted title. South Australian gold champions Lachlan Baker and Kristalle Blum will return to home turf as they look to take home to $200,000 in prize money. The Webex Players Series is part of the 2024/2025 Challenger PGA Tour of Australasia season, with 10 tournaments contested throughout the year.
Head to BMG Art this November for a joint exhibition featuring painting and collage by Patrick Dagg and sculpture by Basil Papoutsidis. Patrick will present a body of work he has developed over the past 7 years titled pieces, which “encompasses the multi-faceted nature of his practice from collage to gestural abstraction, representation and symbolism” with the use of non-traditional material and art forms denigrated as “low”. Basil is a Melbourne-based artist who uses vehicular forms to explore “sculptural contexts of formalist abstraction”. This exhibition takes place from Friday, November 1 until Saturday, November 23.
