The man was found after police followed a trail of destruction after midnight on Tuesday in the western suburbs.

Police were called to a series of alarm activations on business premises on Henley Beach Road at Torrensville at about 12.30 am.

Several businesses were broken into and police located a suspect at the scene: the 32-year-old man who had suffered a leg injury as a result of the break-ins.

The man led police to the Cowandilla home where the body of the 60-year-old man was discovered.

Police said the victim is believed to be a resident of the address, and both men are known to each other.

The 32-year-old was arrested and police said it was expected he would be charged with murder and other related property offences once his medical treatment is completed.

Police have encouraged anyone with information that may assist with the investigation to contact Crime Stoppers.
