A Victor Harbor man has been charged with death by dangerous driving after two women died in a collision between a truck and three cars south of Adelaide yesterday.
Police and emergency services were called to Main South Road at Wattle Flat, 70 km south of Adelaide, at 12:15 pm on Monday after reports of a crash involving a truck and three cars.
A truck and trailer collided with a black Ford sedan, a silver Ford sedan, and a white ute.
A 44-year-old woman who was a rear passenger in the silver Ford died at the scene, and a second woman from the same vehicle later died in hospital.
A 43-year-old man driving the the silver Ford was taken to hospital in critical condition, with a 14-year-old male passenger taken to hospital with minor injuries.
A 48-year-old Hay Flat man who had been driving the ute was taken to hospital in serious condition.
A 38-year-old woman who had been driving the black Ford was taken to hospital alongside her two passengers, a 45-year-old man and a 10-year-old girl. None of their injuries are believed to be life-threatening.
The 35-year-old truck driver was taken to hospital with minor injuries and has since been arrested and charged with two counts of cause death by dangerous driving, two counts of cause serious harm by dangerous driving and four counts of cause harm by dangerous driving.
Main South Road was closed between Pyne Hill Road and Forktree Road, but has since reopened.
Major Crash investigators attended the scene and investigations are ongoing. Police are asking anyone who witnessed the crash to contact Crime Stoppers.
