Ben Doyle, a barrister who holds a post-graduate degree from Oxford University, will take up the role next week after replacing Malcolm Blue who retired earlier this month.

Doyle, who received a law degree from the University of Adelaide and a Bachelor of Civil Laws from Oxford University, has worked in private practice since 2004.

Attorney-General Kyam Maher said Doyle was an “eminently qualified barrister, with considerable experience both locally and interstate”.

“Based in Adelaide for around 20 years, he has appeared in courts in South Australia and numerous jurisdictions interstate,” Maher said.

“I’m confident he will make a substantial contribution in his time with the judiciary.”

Doyle has worked across commercial and civil litigation, criminal appeals and public law, appearing in supreme and local courts in several jurisdictions, as well as the Federal Court and High Court.
