Eldercare Goodwood opens its doors

Australia’s first aged care facility to receive a Six Star Green Start Design Review raring from the Green Building Council of Australia has officially opened.

The $40 million facility has 100 beds and was purpose-built from the ground up.

Eldercare chief executive Jane Pickering said Eldercare Goodwood was “the new standard in aged care”.

“We are so proud of to be a part of this magnificent state-of-the-art aged care building, constructed with quality local and Australian products in in keeping with the heritage of the local area,” Pickering said.

Strong December for BHP as Olympic Dam projects progress

BHP had a strong performance of 30kt of copper at Olympic Dam in December following a power outage as the company progresses projects at the site, including approximately US$200 million in a new decline.

Half year earnings were US$12.4 billion, in line with consensus, with copper’s contribution increasing to 38 per cent of underlying profits.

“The demand for BHP products remains strong despite global economic and trade uncertainties, with early signs of recovery in China, resilient economic performance in the US and strong growth in India,” CEO Mike Henry said.

Beaumont’s largest showroom joins Marleston retail precinct  

The tile retailer opened its latest showroom on Saturday at the Richmond Lifestyle Centre.

At 1200 square metres, it’s the company’s largest store.

Further validation for SA battery recycling tech

Kent Town-based Iondrive announced a third-party economic modelling report that provided further validation of the financial viability of its battery recycling technology.

The company said independent consultancy Model Answer’s report showed “significant profitability” of its tech.

“These economic results, combined with the extensive technical work already completed – including over 98 per cent recovery rates in our bench scale testing, provide a compelling foundation for the pilot plant construction planned for 2025,” Iondrive CEO Dr Ebbe Dommisse said.

Voting opens for Eastside Business Awards

Voting in the 2025 Eastside Business Awards, which celebrate the achievements of local businesses in the City of Norwood, Payneham & St Peters, has now opened.

Awards are offered across 10 categories in addition to a Hall of Fame recipient and Legends as part of the initiative which is now in its eighth year.

Mayor Robert Bria said small businesses were the “bedrock of the local economy” and employ more than 5000 residents.

“They bring people and tourists to our City and diversity to our main streets; they create local jobs for local people and spark innovation; they build community identity and are the foundation of many friendships and community connections,” he said.

Green Iron SA welcomes $1 billion fund

A consortium of Australian companies focused on producing green iron welcomed the federal government’s establishment of a new Green Iron Fund to support early-mover green iron projects.

The consortium, which includes Magnetite Mines, Aurizon, Flinders Ports and GHD, said the fund “establishes the right foundations to unlock the Braemar Iron Ore Region in South Australia whose massive, high purity magnetite reserves are essential for the sustainable production of green iron”.

“Green Iron SA and its member companies look forward to working with the Federal and South Australian Governments to realise the value in South Australia’s expansive magnetite endowment, and in doing so build a world-class green iron industry,” it said.
