A ‘Notice of Re-entry and Termination’ has been posted on the doors of The Olivia Hotel at 170 Hutt Street.

Dated July 4, the notice claims the business had not paid rent for June and July, equating to a total outstanding amount of $9015.

Claiming an additional $3300 in estimated costs, the notices claimed a total amount owing of $12,315.

The notice said the Sydney-based lessor had authorised an agent to re-enter the premises, with goods located on the premises seized as part of the re-entry.

An inventory posted on the door listed 40 categories of goods seized, including chairs, speakers, alcohol and wall hangings.

The Olivia Hotel opened in December 2020, with the lease set to expire on September 30 2025.

The hotel’s most recent post on Instagram, dated the day after the eviction notice, said simply “sorry fam. Have to close tonight”.

“Hate this for us beautiful people. Love all your work,” the post said.

The Olivia Hotel had posted another picture earlier that day inviting patrons to an event that night.

Prior to the hotel opening, the site was home to Goodlife Pizza for 18 years and was previously Cheong Liew’s restaurant, Neddy’s.

Speaking to CityMag in 2021, an Olivia Hotel co-founder said the venue was a mix of a pub and a wine bar.

“You can go to a wine bar, or you can go to a pub, but you can’t go to somewhere where you just have that pub atmosphere, and also the [high level of] service,” he told CityMag.

InDaily attempted to contact the person for comment.

It comes after Dumplings R Us was evicted from its Rundle Street Premises in July.
