Immersive Light and Art (ILA) presents “Under The CRT Glow,” a unique sound and visual installation at The Lab on March 6, 2025. This event explores the interplay between old-school CRT televisions, movement, and the human eye, questioning how our perception transforms electron beams into fluid motion.
The installation is a collaboration by Capital Waste, 4TH Floor Elevator, and Rusted Chroma, featuring a network of CRT screens throughout the venue. Adding to the sensory experience are live performances by Japanese experimental artist EYE (performing a hybrid DJ set), TARP, Kinetik Collective (a group of multidisciplinary artists based between Kaurna Country and Naarm, presenting their work ‘A Loop Session’), and South Australian sound artist Michael Ellingford. EYE, known for four decades of diverse creative work and a member of the 90s noise group Boredoms, is appearing in Australia as part of the ABSORBED line up (Naarm), and this is his only Adelaide show.
Doors open at 7:30 pm with Michael Ellingford starting the night, and the event continues until 11:00 pm. A warning to attendees: the show incorporates haze, strobe lighting, and other intense lighting effects that may not be suitable for those with epilepsy or light sensitivity.
