Gordy Boy Records is celebrating Record Store Day with an in-store performance and expanding the shop into the Adelaide Arcades underground tea rooms.

The store will be open from 8:00 am ‘til 5:00 pm on April 12, selling new and pre-loved records. Owner Ed Rooney and The City Record Club will play DJ sets ‘til 1:00 pm.

“The smiles I see when someone finds the record they’re after makes days like RSD so worthwhile,” Ed says.

“It’s such an awesome celebration when people from all walks of life are brought together by good records and that same passion to find something they really enjoy.”

Local punk band The Public Servants will play a live set in-store at 1pm. The band, whose music centres around “humorous songs about public servant life”, will play a slightly acoustic set for Gordy Boy Records members.

The store opened in December last year, which Adelaide Arcade general manager Andrew Jonats says brought vinyl back to the arcade.

“Music lovers continue to embrace the retro format,” Andrew says.
