Find everything you need to know about this year’s festival season through our latest print magazine, which is on streets now.
Just like that, festival season is here with Fringe officially opening its gates. Which, obviously, means our annual Festival print edition has hit your favourite cafe, pub, or hangout.
This year, we’ve broken down the do’s and don’ts of gig etiquette (tall people – read with caution). We think this should be in the T&Cs when buying any type of gig ticket and recommend you all read up before Mad March officially kicks off (page 42).
Our ‘Class of 2025’ will equip you with everything you need to know re-Adelaide’s music scene for the year. We’ve listed the bands and artists to watch, our favourite songs they’ve released and one special highlight to a musician/violinist who can, truly, do it all (page 44).
It’s been 50 years since male homosexuality was decriminalised in South Australia and although progress has been made – as Will Sergeant OAM tells us in the story while he looks back at those early years – queer liberation isn’t finished, according to cabaret performer Millicent ‘Mim’ Sarre (page 32).
Which festival food are you, based on your characteristics? Find out by grabbing a fresh mag. This picture: Claudia Dichiera.
You must be warned: roast potatoes are not safe this festival season. We’re always filling you in on the best places to eat, so this summer we scoured the city in the burning heat (hard work, we know) to find the best taters on offer (page 9).
We visited festival-food royalty Gang Gang up at Eden Hills and challenged co-owners Nina and Morgen Wynn-Hadinata to a Public BBQ cook-off. Spoiler: they passed with flying colours (page 15).
Gang Gang’s food is obviously delicious and worth waiting in a very long line for, as our cover attests. This cover design was inspired by issue 25 of CityMag, The People Edition. Our lead graphic designer, Jayde Vandborg, saw that and multiplied it… by a lot. Look closely at our bright yellow and hot pink front page to spot all the famous faces of Adelaide and how they pass the time while waiting for food (the more you look, the more you’ll find).
There’s plenty more of all things Adelaide in issue 46 of CityMag, but you’ll have to pick one up to find out what. The mags are at a range of venues throughout the CBD and suburbs. There are also stands in popular Fringe venues, or swing by our office at 165 Grenfell Street to grab one.
Happy reading CityMag family.
