The Game edition of our free magazine is out now. The best part? The cover is a board game you can play anywhere you find the mag.
The Game Edition of CityMag is on streets now and full of amusement.
The best part? You can play the cover.
We knew if there was ever a time to go all-in on an interactive cover for our magazine, it was now.
So, our lead graphic designer Jayde Vandborg put on her illustrator cap and drew up a mini golf course scattered with Adelaide icons. Scroll down for the rules and virtual dice and give it a go. You can race a mate around our course or give it a go solo and learn fun facts about the city we love as you move around the board.
You can follow our rules, play it ala Snakes and Ladders, or make up your own rules. Our mags are always free and scattered around the city, so play it over a coffee or a pint at your local, or take it home and enjoy. While you’re at it, snap a pic and share it with us on Instagram so we can see where you’re playing.
To us, gaming is about interaction and, of course, friendly competition.
It’s the time spent with mates gathered around a coffee table, ripping open bags of chips and shuffling a deck. It’s that wicked Mario Kart streak that makes your little sister both fear and admire you. Whether you’re a menace at Uno or have over a thousand hours logged in Overwatch, we know there are so many ways to have a good game.
Whether you want to spend your Saturday adding to your Steam library, at the basketball (which we did, and snapped all the stylish players and spectators), or with a pint and a pool cue in hand, we’ve got something for you.
We scouted Adelaide’s best pool tables, challenged a professional chess player to a match (big mistake) and spoke to a developer about her new cyber-horror role-playing game.
Gaming can take many forms, which we’ve reflected in our round-up of favourites. We’ve also deep-dived gaming machines that made their way into Adelaide’s pubs and how they changed the music and hospitality scenes.
As always, we’ve got the newest places to eat and drink around Adelaide and your Christmas shopping list sorted with our considerate gift guide.
Find your free CityMag at restaurants, bars, cafes, libraries and uni campuses around the CBD and some surrounding suburbs. Or, pick up a copy from the stand outside our office on 165 Grenfell Street.
We’re game, are you?

Footy fans, you’re in luck!
BONUS: If your favourite club won a match most recently, shoot straight through to hole #13. If your opponent’s did… that’s unfortunate. Stay put.
